Love for Layers

Wearing layers takes a bit of courage, because you never know how a look will turn out, or what others will think of it. But you are more likely to look unique and fashion forward! I always the most like myself when wearing many layers! Here are some combinations I adore:

Outing with Baby

I think Lila was about 8 months old in these pictures (she is 10 month old now!). Her tolerance for shopping trips with me has definitely decreased since then. She loves being in the stroller outside, but not so much wandering around shops. But I did find an awesome distraction for her in this triple mirror!

That is one fun thing about going out and about with a baby, you see the world in a whole new way! Everything is entertainment, or something to explore, or a learning opportunity. As she gets more active, I am seeing more fearlessness in her and its fun because she is not afraid to explore new things, but it is also terrifying because of all the possible dangers in the world that she has no way of understanding! This is probably old news to all of you seasoned parents, but I am just discovering how hazardous my house could be! I have to say, although winter is definitely my least favorite, I wouldn't want to give it up! I just think it could be a lot shorter, and I would be perfectly happy. I think fall and spring are my top two because I really enjoy watching the changes that take place. I also find these seasons very inspiring creatively. But fall is definitely my number one.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that last year at this time I was pregnant, and really looking forward to becoming a Mom! I've always loved fall, but watching the leaves turn and feeling the crisp air just makes me happier this year. Its a very nostalgic feeling. 

Another reason I love fall is the cozy feeling of cuddling up with a blanket, by a fireplace with a hot cup of cocoa, hanging out with just your close family. I am an introvert and often enjoy being alone, so part of me really enjoys the seclusion that comes with a colder season. Although by February I am definitely ready to open the shades again!

First time at Culver's

No, not my first time, Lila's first time! She didn't eat any of the food, but she did sit in a restaurant high chair for the first time!

In theory, I am not a big fan of fast food. In reality, we have a love-hate relationship. Similar to my relationship with Dr Pepper and Nip/Tuck reruns.

Fashion Favorites: Striped Maxi Dress

I simply adore the striped maxi dress and I am thrilled that it is popular this year! I love maxi dresses in general and I think the black and white stripes are so classy! They can be dressed up for a fancy evening, a night out, or a casual day at work, shopping, or at the beach! The possibilities are endless!

Family Reunion; Part 1

The first family reunion of the summer at my Grandma & Grandpa's house in Minnesota. Lila had just started sitting up on her own around this time! Clearly she has realized how much easier it to play with toys while sitting up!

Here is Lila with her cousin* Preston, who is exactly six months (minus one day) older than her! Isn't it sweet how they posed in this pic? In reality most of the time they played by themselves and didn't pay each other much attention. But  I can't wait to watch them grow up together!

*Preston is actually my cousin's son, so that would make him Lila's... second cousin? Third cousin?

Grand Reopening!

Miss Merryweather is finally back! I am very excited to be blogging again. I've been putting a lot of thought and planning into my future blog posts, so I really hope you like what is to come! While I have a lot in common with a lot of other bloggers, there are many things that are unique about me, and I plan to show off those things a little more in my blog.

I am also avoiding falling into any labels, ie "mom blog" or "fashion blog" or "craft blog" because while each of these things is a part of me, not one of them completely describes me.

So in this "new and improved" blog I plan to put lots of fashion inspiration, regular updates and photos of me and my baby, thoughts on life from my point of view, some DIY projects I've found and tried online, and lots of showcasing of other blogs, shops, and talents that I find along the way!
