"Scoops" Review

Pictures from our recent trip to check out "Scoops" - a spa/salon just for kids!
Scoops specializes in manicures, pedicures, and haircuts for little kids! They also have a sparkling bubble bath station where kids can mix up their own bubble bath or shower gel, pick their colors and add glitter!
They only have one stylist that works there, so they were running behind when we got there and Lila was having trouble waiting, despite the cute decor.
Also, they get our appointment day wrong so when I got there they were expecting us to come the next day... so we ended up having to wait an extra hour+ for an appointment that day.
Overall it was an adorable place and the people were friendly enough, but I wasn't super pleased with Lila's haircut and I probably won't go back there.
But if you have a little girl who would love this kind of thing - it sure would be a fun place to have a birthday party.

2013 Goals

I've always been hesitant to use the term "New Years Resolution." As I'm getting older and the years seem to pass more quickly, it feels almost feeble to try to start a whole new life just because of the new year. People focus on their weaknesses - bad eating habits, clutter, money problems, work, and resolve to solve their problems in the new year. But my personal weaknesses are not something I want to focus on in the new year. Instead I have created a list of goals; things I hope to do or accomplish this year. Some of them are big, some are small. Some are silly, some are serious... so here's to a great 2013!

Keep potted plants alive - I have owned many plants in my life, but I currently own none. Which tells you how well I have kept them alive so far. This year, I want to get some special plants and keep them alive!
Sledding
Build a Snowman
Get a tattoo - Now that I am 100% positive I want a tattoo, I just have to figure out what and where!
Plant something with Lila
See a Rainbow
Have a Dinner Party - I love the idea of having a dinner party with a few friends. Picking the menu, cooking, picking the wine, and dressing up nice!
Watch the Stars
Go Camping
Join a Book Club - I really want to find one in the area that I can join. I love to read and have been doing more lately, and I always want someone to discuss the books with!

Take a Dance Class - I am a dancer at heart and this year I want to take at least one dance class, or preferably find a studio that I fit into and start taking regular classes!
Cook More/Try New Recipes
Dye my Hair - I have been dieing (pun intended) to try some new things with my hair. I have never really dyed it before (besides some pathetic pink streaks once) and I have a few ideas in mind that I am determined to try this year!
Take a Bubble Bath at least Once a Month - This one doesn't really need an explanation, does it?
Get all my stuff out of Storage - For the last three years, ever since I moved back from Milwaukee, I have had a lot of boxes of stuff in storage. I have been slowly going through it but my goal this year is to finally get everything out of there and put it to use or give it away!
Go to Epplegarden as many times as possible - An apple garden in our area. Love it.
Finish all my Scrapbooks
Join Etsy Best Team - This one is a big maybe. I really want to join this team because I think would be great to help me promote my shop and blog, but if I do, I want to do it full-fledged and not feel like I have to cut corners because I run out of time (read: procrastinate!)

So there you have it! Do you have any goals or resolutions this year?

Friday, January 11

Hello and Happy Friday!
The collar, the buttons, everything about this vintage dress is so classy and charming.

Unfortunately these vintage heels are sold already, but they weren't in my size anyways... aren't they beautiful?

I am in love with these butterfly wall decals! Also, how awesome is the name of their Etsy shop- Hip and Clavicle!

I sure love me some inspirational wall art!

I was searching through all the beautiful pieces in this shop, trying to pick a favorite when of course I found the Madison print! Its just perfect!

I wish you a wonderful Friday!

I am absolutely enamored with these giraffe statues!

I pretty much need this on my wall.
All the signs from this Etsy shop are funny, but this one is my favorite!

These adorable mustard arm warmers are definitely going on my Christmas list! Why am I so obsessed with mustard yellow lately?

If your wondering why I'm posting this now, I'll tell you. Today is my "Friday" because I worked a craft fair today and I have the next two days off. So happy Friday to me! I wish you all a very good week!

Business Days: Being Fair to Yourself

Since I started selling on Etsy, I've had many great experiences, received wonderful feedback, and met a lot of exceptional people.

Every once in awhile, however, I come across some challenging people. People that make me feel inadequate, incompetent, and just generally frustrated.

Problem #1:
Messaging me after they place an order to tell me they need it in a few days, when my shop introduction specifically says to notify me of any deadlines (earlier than my general 7-10 days plus shipping time) before placing the order. This has been happening to me a lot lately! I am still working on a solution for this.

Problem #2:
Requesting a custom order then changing their mind after I have started making it. This has happened to me a few times. It is one of those things that I can't really do much about.

Problem #3:
Claiming the order they received wasn't correct. For example that I got the quantity wrong, or the exact size is different than described. This has only happened to me twice. It both cases I allowed the customer to be right and offered them options for refund/exchange.

Are there any Etsy sellers out there who deal with similar problems? I would love to hear any suggestions you have!
