Happy {belated} Mother's Day!

Happy {belated} Mother's Day to mothers of all kinds out there!
I had this post all ready to go out yesterday. And by ready, I am mean 95% typed and the photos all ready, then our internet died. It stayed dead until sometime today while I was at work. So that' my excuse.
Anyways......
I wasn't sure how fun this mother's day would be, since we usually go out to brunch but going out to eat is harder these days with a toddler, and I don't think it feel very special to be chasing Lila all over a restaurant followed by annoyed glares from other customers. Luckily, our church had a Mother's Day brunch so Lila could run around and play with other kids while we ate. It was really nice to see her enjoying herself, and the food was excellent.
After brunch we took a quick trip to the arboretum to take some Mother's Day pictures.

Isn't Lila's outfit just the cutest??
Her dress was on the second-hand rack at Happy Bambino, although it still had the original tag on it!
The hat was $1.00 at Target!
Isn't she just adorable playing with her hat in the wind?
So, here's a funny story about me:
I started out the day in one of my vintage dresses (the bright pink one). After I was all ready and went to sit in the car, it ripped. Right up the backside.
So I ran inside to change really quick, and I decided on this dress: (I added the pink belt from the previous dress.):
This particular dress I got at a garage sale last year for $2.00. The shoes are old dance shoes!
 How was your Mother's Day?

Guard Your Heart

What this means to me: That I should protect my heart from negative thinkers and people who try to control me. By guarding my heart I am also guarding my strength and inspiration for what I want to do with my life.

Business Tuesday: Business Books

One of the big changes I have been going through recently is that I finally decided that I want to run a small creative business. I know, I've been running my Etsy shop for over a year now and I have been thinking this in the back of my head for years before that, but I finally have convinced myself that it is possible. It may not be easy, but I am going to give it my all and I am going to run my creative business!

So from now on, I will dedicate every Tuesday to something related to my business on my blog.

As part of this new decision, I recently bought some books online. This is my first step in learning the business aspect of....my business. I don't know anything about taxes, permits, budgeting, licensing, etc. All I know is that I love to make things, and I love to interact with people. So I bought some books to help me with what I don't know:

Have you read or heard of any of these? The business planner is based off of the book, and I can't wait to dive into all of them! From what I have read so far, I am very excited to get started. I will definitely post a thorough review when I have finished each one!

Positive Thought of the Day: Do What You Love

What this means to me: This thought is very relevant to me presently because I am currently undergoing a lot of changes to my life, some of which certain people in my life don't think are a good idea. But even in the short amount of time I have been pondering these changes (about a year) I have come to the realization that if I don't do it, I will feel frustrated and unfulfilled in life. One of the main reasons I am hesitant to take the leap and just do it is because I am constantly getting criticized for my ideas. The criticism is coming from people who love me and mean well, but it is dragging me down.
So I have decided to do what I feel is right in my heart! With that I would like to make the announcement that, if all goes as planned, I will be moving out of my parent's house sometime this month!
I will be discussing another change I am undergoing in a post I have planned for later today :)

What are your thoughts on the thought of the day?
